The Town of Middleburg imposes a real estate tax on properties located within its corporate limits. The Town’s real property tax rate is $0.1369 per $100 of assessed value, which is in addition to Loudoun County’s Real Estate Tax. Assessments are made by the Loudoun County Commissioner of the Revenue.
Effective January 1, 2019, Loudoun County assumed the billing and collecting of Town Real Estate Taxes for the Town of Middleburg. Inquiries about assessments for 2019 and forth coming Real Estate Taxes should be directed to Loudoun County’s Commissioner of the Revenue. Inquires about 2019 and forth coming Real Estate Tax bills and payments should be directed to the Loudoun County Treasurer’s Office. For 2018 and prior Real Estate Tax inquiries and payments, please contact the Town Office by phone or by email.
The Town of Middleburg and Loudoun County offer a real property tax relief for the elderly and disabled program. This program is administered by Loudoun County. Click here for more information to determine whether you qualify or to submit an application. Applications are generally due on January 1st of each calendar year.
The Town Council suspended the Personal Property Tax on vehicles effective January 1, 1998. However, owners of vehicles within the Town limits must still pay Loudoun County’s Personal Property Tax on vehicles.
The Town of Middleburg imposes an annual $25.00 Vehicle License Fee on automobiles, motorcycles, semi-trailers, trucks, trailers, and other motor vehicles registered in the Town of Middleburg as of January 1 of the taxable year. Effective January 1, 2020, the Vehicle License Fee is collected and billed by the Loudoun County Treasurer’s Office on the Personal Property Tax bills. As such, all payments and inquiries are to be directed to the Treasurer’s Office.
