Where to Stay
We are proud of our comfortable, stately lodging properties.
The Red Fox Inn is renowned for its history and charm, hosting presidents and heads of state. Billed as the Oldest Continuously Operating Inn in America (since 1728!), The Red Fox Inn is a delight!
Salamander Middleburg is a Forbes 5-Star rated resort property, featuring 168 rooms, equestrian facilities, spa and pool, two restaurants, and an expansive grounds. Oh yeah, the Spa is rated 5-Star as well, making Salamander the only double-five star property in the Commonwealth of Virginia (and one of only 30 in the USA). There's a little something for everyone at Salamander. Consider their lobby as Middleburg's living room - comfortable, inviting, and plenty of friends to meet.
Goodstone Inn & Restaurant is just outside the Town, with a 265 acre playground of fields, farms, and hiking. Visit one of their luxuriously-apportioned rooms or private cottages, and indulge yourself in the award-winning restaurant. Their wine list has made the Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence for 6 straight years!
Visiting Welbourne Inn is a step back in time. Dating from 1775, the 8th generation family home welcomes visitors with history, charm and character.

What to Do
All around town you’ll spot places to relax and enjoy our picturesque village. Drop by the historic, non-profit Middleburg Community Center when the weather’s nice – enjoy the garden, playgrounds, pool and outdoor spaces. Explore The Hill School’s 20-acre arboretum and public nature trails, accessed across the pedestrian bridge at the end of South Pendleton Street. Or should you be looking for more adventure, the Salamander is not only a breathtaking resort and spa – it is also home to zip lining, tennis, nature hikes, archery and, of course, horseback riding.
The acclaimed National Sporting Library & Museum boasts some of the world's most exquisite collection of field sport art and history. Ask for a tour of the "rare books" collection, if open, to see books from nearly every century since Gutenberg first invented the printing press!
Of course, no stop in the countryside would be complete without a relaxing visit to a local winery, brewery, distillery, or park. All of our attractions can be found here!
A Final Note
We are excited that you want to visit our community. Stop by and say hi at the Town Office, the Pink Box Visitors Center, or chat with any of the locals. We're the best tour guides. And for additional ideas and info, check out the Visit Middleburg website!
