Visitors to Town Government Facilities Required to Wear Masks

In light of the recent growth of COVID-19 cases in our region and in keeping with practices at other local governments, the Town of Middleburg will require all visitors to Town Government Facilities to wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status. This includes the Town Office, Police Department, Town Maintenance Shop, and Utility Operating Plants. Town employees will wear masks when serving members of the public or when in meetings with the public.

For those who are fully vaccinated, wearing a mask reduces the risk of becoming infected with the Delta variant and reduces the risk of unknowingly spreading the virus to others. While infections happen in only a small proportion of people who are fully vaccinated, it is still possible for fully vaccinated people to spread the virus to others.

Approximately 98-99% of all new COVID-19 hospitalizations and deaths are from those who are unvaccinated, and the Delta variant is now the dominant strain of the virus in Virginia. The Town of Middleburg continues to encourage all eligible persons to get vaccinated in order to protect themselves. In addition, please remember to always wash your hands before touching your face or eating, stay home when you’re sick, and get tested when you are symptomatic.

The new mask requirement for visitors to Town Government Facilities will take effect at 8:30am, Monday, August 11, 2021.
