 Town of Middleburg Water System of the Year April 2017

Overview

The Source Water Protection Team (formerly the Wellhead Protection Advisory Committee) is appointed by the Town Administrator.  It is responsible for:

  • Addressing source water protection issues
  • Assisting in the implementation of the plan
  • Developing and recommending a wellhead protection plan to the Town Council

Meetings

The Committee meets on a quarterly basis.

Source Water Protection  Initiates / Projects Completed to Date

  • Development and distribution of Leaking Oil Tank Brochure
  • Development and distribution of Source Water Protection Brochure through the use of State grant
  • Erection of Drinking Water Protection Zone signs at Town entrances
  • Fencing of all Town wells through the use of State grants
  • Formal closure/abandonment of unused wells in town (Town Well 1 closed; remaining well project underway)
  • Initiation of Drug Take-Back Program
  • Storm Water Medallion Program
